Hearings have begun into the deadly implosion of the Titan, an experimental submersible that disappeared during a dive to the wreckage of the Titanic in June 2023. The days-long search for the vessel drew global attention and shone a light on the unregulated industry of deep-sea tourism.

The U.S. Coast Guard hearing, which is expected to last two weeks, will include testimony from former executives and employees at OceanGate, the company behind the Titan, as well as scientists and government officials.
